Works as advertised
Handle was comfortable. Opened oysters easily. Would definitely buy again but given the quality don’t think I will need to anytime soon. Will consider it as a gift in the future to fellow bivalve aficionados!

Same as it was 40 years ago!
This oyster knife is perfect! Made the exact same way as it was 40 years ago! The quality is identical to the one my dad handed down so long ago. Now I have the old rusted one (which still works great) and a shiny new one. How amazing that R Murphy still makes the identical knife, with the identical quality materials, in the same place they always have, Ayer, Mass. USA!

Ultimate oyster opener
Works well, --be sure to twist, not pry. I found the handle a bit short for my taste, but a minor inconvenience.

Works great, why is handle unfinished?
Great knife. Works really well but I don’t get why they didn’t put a finish on the handle

Good quality; recommended by Cook's Illustrated
I wish that I could say more about this oyster shucker except that I like it - I've used the Oxo plastic one and then read at www.cooksillustrated.com that this one was much better, so I decided to upgrade. Unfortunately I'm still rather new to shucking oysters (have done them three times now) so I don't really know if the shucker is better or if I'm getting better. But hopefully it's helpful to tell you that this one is CI's favorite. It looks from appearances to be of very good quality!

Great tool for oysters!!!
My husband was so pleased when we got this. The handle is sturdier and easier to grip than the shucker we currently have. He liked the blade with a little sharper point and edge. It is a keeper. We would definitely recommend this to others.

i shuck a few oysters
this is almost the perfect oyster knife..a novice should be warned this is not a knife that is to be used as a substitute for a crowbar, please watch a tutorial on how to shuck oysters before you start shucking . blade is on the thin side so finesse is required over brute force. not recommended for thick shells over 4 inches ....side shucking not so great.........the bend in the blade is in the perfect spot compared to other knifes of this design .

... murphy schucker a few years ago and i realy like how easy they were to open oysters
my brother first introduced me to the murphy schucker a few years ago and i realy like how easy they were to open oysters, so i finally broke down and boufgt my own. as far as i'm concerned they are the best out there by far and worth every penny.
