I installed this product on a 2015 Ram 3500. I found it difficult to reach anything in the bed of the truck and nearly impossible to climb into the bed. I needed a step with a large weight capacity because I am a large man. The step appears to be strong and very well made. The hitch on my truck is a Class 5 with a 2 1/2 inch opening. I used a Class 5 to Class 4 hitch adapter with the step. The included bolt was long enough to go through the hitch, adapter and the step itself. The included bolt appears to be a Grade 8 bolt so I torqued it to 100 foot pounds and the step does not rattle and is not loose in the hitch opening. I have used the step several times in all positions of extension. It is very solid and I feel confident that it will support my weight. Again, I am a large man and if it holds my weight, it is more than strong enough for most everyone else. The step is easy to use and intuitive for most people. My son having never read the instructions, was able to use the step within seconds of looking at it. I highly recommend this step especially for those who don't use their hitch often. I use my truck with a fifth wheel hitch so it fit my needs perfectly. If you tow often with a bumper pull trailer, perhaps another step would be better for you. However, I have found no other step with a 500 pound weight capacity.

Bought this for a 2016 Tundra SR5 Crewmax (which has a class IV 2" receiver). It seems to have pretty solid construction, although the step plastic with metal reinforcing it. The box I received was actually slightly damaged (probably from the metal pushing through), but everything looked just fine once unpacked.It fit snugly into my receiver and the anti-wobble bolt really helps to remove any remaining play. I fully extended the step out and with the tailgate down, the full step is visible when standing on the tail gate. Getting up and down is much easier, I no longer need to jump up and down using the bumper's corner.I hope it proves to be as durable and weather proof as the rest of the truck!*EDIT* Do not forget that your departure angle (approach angle when in reverse) really suffers when you install this! I had neglected to check on this earlier, but realized that this is not compatible with the gradual slope of my drive way. Additionally, trying to flip the step up and down is a bit finicky as well - you have to get it just right or it will catch and simply won't budge.

Sorry to write the only 1-star review, but when you can't even get the hole location right for a standard factory receiver, that's what you get. How difficult can that math be for an outfit like Heininger??? the second hole comes about 1/8-inch short of being able to insert a hitch pin. maybe it's a bad weld bead, but it still points to poor quality control.The anti-wobble thing is a cute little feature but 1) I don't care about it, and 2) it's useless if I can't use a locking hitch pin along with it. A wood shim would work just as well and it's a whole lot cheaper.I'm returning it. I'll go buy another model 4045. I had a 4045. It fit perfectly and lasted 10 years. I could technically keep using it but the rubber pad fell off last summer.

Well built, a little hard to get foot/step to work properly. Due to type of hitch on my 2019 ram2500 I had to modify to fit tight to bumper otherwise my backup sensors sensed the step as an object in my way. Little concerned about how low it hangs under truck and possibly catching on something but otherwise it is very helpful in getting in and out of my too tall 4x4 ram 2500!

I have a 2017 Chevy 3500 HD and this is perfect to help me climb into the bed with my bad knees! The step pulls out with plenty of room when the tail gate is down. It easily slides in and out and has a pin that locks it into position. It bolts into the receiver so you don't want to buy this if you are going to swap it in and out with a hitch. I would purchase this again.

Plenty strong and gets past the tail gate for easy access to the bed on my 2019 Tundra. The footplate attitude change gets a little time to get used to but I leave mine down. It will take out knees and shins if not paying attention lol

This is a great product. It’s the only truck bed step I’ve found you can use with the tail gate open. It’s sturdy. I sometimes jump down to the step when getting off the bed, and it holds up nicely. Folding is a bit tricky. Just make sure the step is locked into position before attempting to fold and you’ll be fine. I like it a lot so far. Neighbors have been commenting they need one too.

Best invention for since canned beer. I am 81 and this step, given it extends beyond the tailgate, is perfect. Buy it.
