probably the best devotional bible out ( for kids and adults)
First I should say that I am very dyslexic and a seminary student (graduate level Bible college). Those two factors mean that being motivated to read the Bible for devotions can be very hard because reading the Bible feels like homework ( even in the audio bibles since I get audio text books). If anyone is curious, I write with dictation software. That said this is the best Bible I have found for devotions (not scholarly work). My reasons are: 1 this is the whole Bible not a story book (its missing a few of the things most people probably find boring if they are honest: such as the genealogies and the repeating stories). The Gospels are combined into one whole story to eliminate repetitiveness. Also, I like the way psalms and proverbs are fitted into their historical context by putting them alongside the stories that might have precipitated them. (Lay people might find it odd to think about but, the Psalms and proverbs were not written all at one time. They were written at various times in history and then put together later. This Bible tries to place them back on the timeline as it were). I find this adds greatly to the ability of this book to keep the story interesting. It is like reading presidential speeches next to stories of events that led the president to make the speech. It helps illuminate why the author might have written a particular psalm. Also, reading through huge blocks of poetry that does not follow the format of English poetry can be boring for me. It is nice to have it broken up with some other biblical stories.2. Despite these minor format changes the power of the text is intact. As an evangelical seminary student, I can attest to how accurately the text is translated. In fact, I find that the simple vocabulary speaks to my heart in ways that more complex versions do not. Therefore, I think this is a great tool for adults as well as kids.3. The daily readings really are manageable, unlike other reading plans I have seen. Even with my reading problems, I can get through the daily reading in 15 minutes or so ( very useful for overwhelmed college students). An adult without reading problems could probably handle them even more quickly. Because of this, I have given this to several new Christians, as well as kids. The adult converts I gave this to commented that the format was much less daunting than that of a typical Bible. I only wish this book was on kindle or audible

Great download!
Great product! Very good for my 8 year old to follow and he is very engaged in the content! We have been reading through nightly together and the material is very kid friendly and written in chronological order, which is nice! My son and daughter (6 years old) love the material and have been very engaged and asking questions about the content. A great product and very thought provoking.A description on my rating scale for comparison:1 Star- I give this to a product just because you have to choose an option, in other words, the product is not anything like the description or picture.2 Star- I give this to products that resemble the picture and description presented but are cheaply made and work poorly.3 Star- I give this to products that are exactly like the picture and description but perhaps are faulty in operation or fit and finish.4 Star- I give this to products that are like the picture and description and work, but wear quickly with use when they should not.5 Star- This I give to items that are quality made, like description and picture that I would purchase continuously with no hesitation.

Excellent for a variety of uses
Karen Henley, author of the Beginner's Bible, knows how to reach children. This Bible is written at about a 2nd grade level but appeals to children of all ages. It is great for a chronilogical read through the Bible, leaving out enough information so as not overwhelm a younger reader and giving an older reader a great summary of the Bible. It would be wonderful for family devotionals, dividing verses into story segments. It is terrific for Children's Ministry teachers. Children can read it aloud in class without stumbling over difficult names and ideas. It divides scriptures into story segments so the children do not have to flip around to different scriptures, which confuses younger children. It has a list of 100 Bible stories in the back that would be great for creating 2 year - through the Bible - curriculum. Our children's ministry teachers love it.
